POLAR BEAR PLUNGE 2019 – start the year with a SPLASH for charity!
On the 1 January 2016, the Sub Aqua Club pool on Cottonmill Lane in St Albans was the venue for the first St Albans Polar Bear Plunge! A chance for brave people to plunge into the icy water of this outdoor, unheated pool, all to raise money for charity. The event raised over £5000, and was repeated on New Year’s Day 2017, AND 2018 raising even more money for local charities.
Now’s your chance to commit to 2019. Will you be joining the 400+ plucky past plungers ranging from 5 to 67 years in age, or will you be a supportive spectator helping to cheer them on?!
Food, hot drinks, postcards, musical entertainment, raffle, a bar, and glitter tattoos (waterproof of course), all guarantee a bustling event for a unique start to your New Year. All plucky plungers receive warming hot chocolate, a cosy warm hat and some treats!
Fancy dress costumes are welcome – past plungers have included a penguin, some Santas, a troupe of snowman, a giraffe, Banana Man, a ghostbuster, C J Parker (Pamela Anderson’s character in Baywatch), and even Buzz Lightyear.
For a refreshing start to your 2019, maybe gift some to a plucky pal, or just come along and show your support as a super spectator. See Polar Bear Plunge St Albans Facebook page, and take a look at www.ed2northpole.org for the background to this event! And contact the Polar Bear PA.
